Relationship, my view

I'm not really a wide reader and will never be one. In fact, I could barely finish a book (unless I skip to the last page!). But then I found myself reading "The LEGO Principle" by Ptr. Joey Bonifacio of Victory 'The Fort' which was given to us as a gift by the Naron Family. Interesting enough, I began to continue reading the whole chapter 1 on the second night (believe it or not, that is a major accomplishment for me!)

The book was God's way for me to understand about the church and most importantly about discipleship. Discipleship is relationship, as the book implies. That led me to the point that in a relationship, you need to communicate, communicate to God and then to others. That is how the LEGO toy works, connect to the top and then to the bottom.

I thank the Lord for reminding me that in a relationship, communication is very important. Without communication, any relationship will fail. Communication is the key to a lasting relationship. May it be a relationship with God, with parents, siblings, spouses, children, friends and even with spiritual family.

I also thank The Lord for reminding me that when I am listening to a sermon or reading Christian books, and Christian quotes from known Christian authors, the 'message' is meant to be very personal (God communicates with us through these). Yes, God is dealing with me personally. I have no right to say, "this one is for my wife" or "this is for my brother, hope he can hear or read this...". But for God, He will say, "That's for you, my son. That is you I'm talking to".

I was also reminded that in today's social media age, although Twitter and Facebook are somehow "a new tool" to communicate, there is no way it should replace how people used to talk to one another. The risk of being misunderstood and misinterpreted is inevitable. Worst, social media has become a tool for conveying indirect personal post intended to unnamed person, hoping that it could solve a broken relationship. Little that we know, it could probably cause more damage rather than healing it. As for God, I believe that he would prefer me, to talk to Him directly rather than hear from somebody else that I needed help. I believe we, too, would like to hear our friends and loved ones talk to us in person rather than depending on any alternative communication device.

Communicate. Build the relationship with it. Disciple one another, Jesus' commands.
