The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi UFJ Annual Dinner and Dance at the
Marriot Hotel was something quite an exciting experience I had. It was a formal gathering but I had to be in a semi-formal suit. The women were dressed up splendidly but most of the men were just in short sleeves and some are even in blue jeans, but some are really dressed up for the occasion. The food was okay, six servings all in all and bottomless cola drink, but no rice… (Where is the rice???).
I’m still working out my chopstick handling skills so that I would catch up eating Chinese foods.
My boss, ah, my boss, a Japanese, a very serious workaholic boss, just showed his lighter side when not in the office. Well, at least I know what he is made of in and out of the office. Very cool…
The prizes for the night’s draw were really nothing much. They’re just giving away gift cheques amounting to $50 and $100 and the others were just Chan Brothers Tourism Package, Nokia Cellphone, Microwave Oven, Acer Laptop, Plasma and LCD TV to name a few. Nothing much indeed. Three of EBanking Department staffs had already won some of the minor prizes and I was really waiting for the grand prize to be announced.
When the second prize, the Acer laptop, was to be announced, the host had mentioned the first three numbers and it was again pointing to EBanking number sequence. But it wasn’t my number. It was my boss’s number. He won. Not me. My boss won. Hmmm… Okay, it’s not my night. Now, I have to pursue my plan of buying one.
